C11 Makaira Pro 500

Availability: In stock.

Product Description

The name Makaira has its origins in the Greek word for sword and it is no surprise, therefore, that it is also the genus for several types of Marlin, including the Atlantic Blue, Black and Indo-Pacific Blue. It is also no surprise either, therefore, that CWs newest dive watch takes the name of some of the strongest, fastest fish in the oceans as the C11 Makaira Pro 500 is a very, very special watch.

From the superbly constructed satin brushed case to the precise and reliable Sellita automatic movement it protects, to the beautifully engineered internal countdown bezel, the Makaira simply exudes the sort of quality a professional diver would expect from a timepiece on which his life could depend.

Most of us will never put the 735 pounds of force per square inch capability of the Makaira to the test - but the fact that it is capable of resisting such pressure should we find ourselves 500 metres below the surface (heaven forbid) provides a certain reassurance if you forget to remove your watch in the shower!

Impressed with entire package
Review by Peter
I received my first CHR WARD watch today. My Makaira Pro arrived within 4 days of buying, delivery in Montreal...Impressive. The box, warranty card, instructions, etc.... were all first rate. Now the watch. WOW! As others have noted, the pictures don't do it justice. The watch screams quality. I own several higher end watches and was hesitant to take a leap on an unknown (to me) brand. Granted I just received it and time will tell, pardon the pun, but my initial impression is very very positive. I don't think this will be my last WARD.
Cool and purposeful but also elegant
Review by John Mac
The first time I viewed this watch my initial thoughts were 'not for me.' This was because of the square shape - I've never owned a square watch before - and also the size - I expected that it would look too large on my average wrists. However after repeated viewings it grew on me and I ordered one.
I had some reservations that my 7.3 inch wrist would not carry it off due to the tall lug to lug length, but I can assure anyone with a similar size wrist it will work on them and not appear too large, especially if, like me, you have a flat wrist shape,
My initial reluctance to accept the new 'Chr Ward' logo has disappeared too - the new, more modern logo suits the tech/modern look of this timepiece.
I live by the sea and take part in water-sports, and although this watch will be more than up to the job for scuba, snorkelling and swimming, I doubt I will ever use it for that as I'm a little worried about damaging or losing it - time will tell, it will be a shame if it is never used for the purpose it is intended for.
The rubber strap is extremely comfortable and obviously high quality. On my wrist it fastens on the third hole from last, the spare part of the strap is not excessive but it appears to be of sufficient length that it will be easy to wear over a wetsuit. the buckle is nicely detailed with the ChrWard logo and hex screws that match the case.
The watch itself: Many reviewers have commented that this watch is even more beautiful in reality than in photos - I am going to have to agree with this 100%. The case is beautifully crafted and the entire ensemble looks cool and purposeful, but also has an air of elegance - to my eyes anyway. The final quadrant of the countdown markers are a more visually pleasing orange that the yellow appearance in many photos and the clarity of the crystal is superb.
One or two people have commented that they dislike the position of the 2 'o' clock bezel crown and the large zero instead of the normal 12. In my opinion these features are what gives the watch its individuality and make it stand out from mass-produced watches.
One reviewer commented that in their opinion this is the watch that James Bond would be wearing had Ian Fleming been alive when this watch was created. Again, I'm going to agree with this - this piece would suit a man of action who dives and swims, but could also be worn with a suit, at a pinch - if 007 can wear an Omega diver with a dinner jacket, then why not this? Perhaps one day we'll see Daniel Craig or his successor wearing one of these on the big screen? I hope so!
I normally don't write reviews - this is the longest I have ever written, which perhaps suggests how pleased I am with this watch. The biggest mystery to me is why it took me so long to get one! If, like me, you are undecided I hope this review will help you. You won't regret it.
Great value....and great looking!
Review by Rob
Received my watch roughly 2 months ago now and totally love it. The only downside is that if you have a piccolo winder, the rubber strap is so thick that it makes it awkward to use with this watch! In fact the rubber strap is generally unforgiving and so I have since bought a leather strap for daily use and will change it back for holidays/diving trips. Other than that It looks stunning and feels great for a watch of this price. I also own a Bell & Ross and Cartier and there isn't any real difference in the quality.

If you like the look of this it!
