Named after the rolling hills of Worcestershire, Christopher Ward’s first watches were the C5 Malvern Automatic and C3 Malvern Chronograph, which caused shockwaves in the watchmaking industry thanks to their attractive pricing and top-end functionality. So it’ll come as no surprise that we’re more than a little fond of all the timepieces that carry the Malvern name. We think you’ll feel the same way.
If you’re not yet ready to move into the rarified air of the mechanical watch, this quartz version of our classic Malvern has all the same attention-to-detail and fine materials but is powered by a Ronda 515 quartz movement (and comes at an incredible price). The simple but beautifully finished dial is housed in a perfectly proportioned case, which at 39mm wide is suited to all wrist sizes. So much watch for so little money.
The second incarnation of the watch that launched Christopher Ward, the C5 Malvern Automatic Mk II is the timepiece to go for if you need something that’ll enhance any outfit. Powered by either a Sellita SW200-1 or ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, every element of the watch comes together to form something classically British and understated. And for those who like to see the beauty of horology close-up, the movement can be viewed through the transparent caseback.
Evolved from the C5 Malvern Automatic, the hand-wound movement at the heart of this watch has enabled us to create a watch that’s both super-thin and a little wider (at 40mm) than the original. The subtle indexes and arrowed hands will attract those who love understated detailing, while the exhibition back gives the owner a grandstand view of the fine mechanical movement inside.
If you prefer your watch as an unobtrusive (but beautiful) accessory then this might just be for you. Like the regular Malvern Slimline, its thinness comes from the hand-wound mechanical movement inside, but the square shape of the watch gives it a distinctly retro feel. And at 37mm wide, it’s ideal for the smaller wrist.
