The dark side of sapphire
The dark side of sapphire
This is one of the most ambitious pieces we’ve ever created. A watch powered by Calibre SH21, our COSC-certified movement, that not only provides ultra-accurate timekeeping but delivers five days of power off the wrist.
The ‘smoked’ sapphire dial is machined to 0.6mm, which lets you see deep into the movement. At 9 o’clock, the power-reserve subdial monitors how much charge you’ve got left, while the date wheel at 3 o’clock provides further fascination, courtesy of its laser-cut numerals. Finally, the small-seconds wheel delivers further precision timekeeping.
At 42mm, the watch is on the larger side, but because of its light-catcher™ case, it never feels big. And thanks to the case’s brushed stainless-steel construction and elements of grey gunmetal PVD and black DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating, it remains true to the watch’s monochrome aesthetic. This continues with a exhibition caseback revealing the PVD rotor of SH21.
In fact, the only bit of colour you’ll find are the flashes of red seen on the power-reserve subdial and unidirectional bezel. Because even night-riders need a little light sometimes.
Calibre SH21 Automatic
Calibre SH21 Automatic
Designed by our former technical director, Johannes Jahnke, Calibre SH21 was the first commercially viable mechanical movement from a British watch brand in over 50 years. And thanks to its ingenious twin-barrel construction, Calibre SH21 will deliver 120 hours – five whole days – of timekeeping when fully wound.
This particular version also boasts a power-reserve complication. The introduction of an automatic power-reserve complication to Calibre SH21 was achieved with a 28-piece modification to the base movement, bringing the total number of jewels to 33.
In addition to providing impeccable timekeeping, its bridge has been redesigned to allow greater visibility of the twin barrels, and boast a 'Colimaçoné' finish, engraved with our twin-flag pattern.
When fully wound, its twin barrels deliver five days' COSC-certified timekeeping. This places it among the most accurate of Swiss-made, power-reserve movements.
Deep inside
The look of the smoked sapphire dial changes depending on the light: sometimes it looks a solid black, others completely transparent. But always bewitching.
This case of ours
Engineered in gunmetal PVD and black DLC – for a non-reflective ‘stealth’ look – the 42mm light-catcher™ case wears surprisingly slim on the wrist.
Back of beyond
The exhibition caseback lets you see the intricately engineered barrels, springs and cogs of Calibre SH21. All topped off by the black PVD rotor.
Bezel of beauty
Crafted in matte-black ceramic, the unidirectional bezel is a link with the watch’s dive DNA. Its numerals are filled with black Super-LumiNova® and lined with red Super-LumiNova® for clarity.
Sub standard
The power-reserve subdial lets you see how much charge Calibre SH21 has left. It’s red ‘danger’ zone shows when it needs winding up.

Using the bezel on a dive watch
This video explains how a unidirectional bezel should be used correctly during a dive. Don’t forget: it can also be used for other timing needs.
