The chemical tang of chlorine. The irritating splash of water on your book as a child with a rat's-tail haircut jumps into the pool – again. There’s nothing like an afternoon by the hotel swimming pool to increase your blood pressure and ponder your life choices and overdraft.

 

But with the C60 Pool Diver – a rework of the C60 Reef – you can unwind, decompress and plot your revenge on your enemies, all from the comfort of your sunbed. And that’s because this isn’t just a watch, but a self-winding instruction manual for the executive looking to chill with purpose.

 

The C60 Pool Diver’s sandblasted white dial is divided into five zones, each prescribing an activity and duration alongside a corresponding icon on the bezel. These commands go from ‘READ’ to ‘SUNBATHE’, ‘RELAX’ to ‘FLEX’, and in the last quarter, ‘CONTEMPLATE’ and ‘CONSIDER YOUR LIFE CHOICES’.

 

But because too much self-help might make you the world’s worst dinner companion, the date window has been shaped into a martini glass, displaying ‘MAX UNITS PER DAY’. Boring legal note: we don’t recommend you drink 31 units every day – which is why the words ‘PLEASE, DON’T DRINK AND DIVE’ are engraved into the case back.

 

As it’s not just the wearer that needs to decompress, the Pool Diver’s 41mm case also features a helium-escape valve. While it allows trapped helium atoms to escape during decompression, it’s also laser-etched and lacquer-filled with a lacquered tropical-island motif to remind you of, well, a tropical island. And with water-resistance of 200m, should you wish to actually go diving, you’ll be able to judge your dive and air times in total confidence. What a time to be alive!

 

Returning on the laser-etched caseback is the familiar pictogram from the Desk Diver. This time, flippers are replaced with flip-flops, the paperclip tank becomes a sun-cream dispenser, and the diver now carries a mocktail in hand.
