The iLink™ system lets you adjust your bracelet on the fly – and it’s debuting on the new Sealander
Coming in both Bader and Consort forms, CW’s new ‘no tool’ bracelets allow you to easily resize things yourself – on the fly, and without needing a clamp or special tools.
“We’d already moved from push pins holding the links together to more aesthetically pleasing screws,” says Jörg Bader Jnr. “And now we’re improving things again.
Flip the watch over and you’ll see a row of tiny buttons, one on each link: simply press to twist and remove. The first five links have this, so without going to a jeweller or risking a screwdriver scratch you can quickly and easily resize your bracelet.”
While not unknown technology – Cartier has something similar, as does TAG Heuer – ’no tool’ size-adjust mechanisms remain rare beasts, yet are immensely convenient.
“Just as the idea of quick release bracelets caused a stir when we first started to offer them,” Jörg says, “these, too, seem destined to earn imitators. Though there are various ways you can design one, ours is both unique and – although I say it myself – rather brilliant. Each removable segment now has its own inner mechanism, complete with minuscule springs: another example of us really sweating the small stuff.
But although it’s complex, it’s also reliable, functional, elegant, secure and – most crucially – extremely easy to use.”
