Every second counts

In September 2026, two-time Dakar Rally Champion and Red Bull athlete Sam Sunderland took on one of the toughest endurance challenges in motorcycling: an attempt to become the fastest person to circumnavigate the globe on a motorcycle. Covering more than 18,000 miles across five continents, the journey tested his endurance, resilience and determination at every turn.

As Official Timing Partner, Christopher Ward was proud to support Sam throughout his attempt.

Against the odds

During the third leg of the journey, in remote outback Australia, Sam's motorcycle sustained damage that required repairs. Due to the location and the time needed to complete and test those repairs, it became clear that the record could no longer be achieved.

As a result, the decision was made to conclude the attempt.

Sam said: "This wasn't a decision I took lightly. I'm incredibly disappointed not to be able to finish the challenge, especially for reasons outside of my control. We gave everything to this project and I'm proud of what the team achieved along the way."
