Time to make the JJump
Time to make the JJump
A perfectly proportioned 39mm Light-catcher™ case, a dial to sit and admire, and an hourly spectacle that reignites the mechanical fascination in every watch enthusiast. It must be the C1 Jump Hour Mk V.
The leap towards precision
The jump hour complication is curious in its execution of displaying time. JJ01, developed by former Christopher Ward Master Watchmaker Johannes Jahnke, achieves exceptional timekeeping by drawing a consistent amount of power creating a crisp, instantaneous jump.
Depth by design
The C1 Jump Hour Mk V has a dramatically complex four tier dial construction. At the centre sits a three-dimensional inner piece stamped with 27 concentric circles. A polished, applied circular-brushed metal ring rises above, and beyond this, a sapphire ring printed with minute markers. A sapphire minute hand with a unique stepped-design - a first for Christopher Ward. Completed by a multi-Super-LumiNova® layered undercoat, for an ethereal, cool blue glow in low light.
Hour jumps, clearly
The hour aperture is a two-part construction with an inner ring featuring circular brushing and polished facets. Featuring a Super-LumiNova® inner ring and a Globolight® ceramic block behind the hour aperture with retro-futuristic numerals exclusive to the C1 Jump Hour Mk V. The sapphire dial ring's translucency allows the entire hour disc to charge, ensuring low-light hour jumps remain legible.
Contrast in craftsmanship
The 39mm Light-catcher™ case combines brushed flanks, chamfered lugs, and a polished bezel. The caseback displays the 12-hour stops of the jump hour wheel and the minutes between. With surfaces alternating between heavy sandblasting and fine polishing, echoing the textural contrasts of the dial.
One watch, every occasion
The C1 Jump Hour Mk V is available on the Consort™ bracelet with an ultra-slim 3mm profile, discreet butterfly clasp, and on-the-fly extension system. Fine Italian leather straps offer an alternative, both fitted with a quick-release system for effortless swapping.
Calibre JJ01
Calibre JJ01
Christopher Ward’s first in-house module, JJ01 was something that had long frustrated master watchmaker Johannes Jahnke. With most jumping hours, the hour number would never flip over exactly as the minute hand passed the hour mark. But his design would be different: it would distribute the power needed to jump the disk across the full hour, rather than a short build-up towards its end, making for a just-so turnover.
