Inspired by the prestige and glamour of motorsport – a world where tenths of a second can prove the difference between the podium and paddock – the C7 Rapide Collection is founded upon the same principles of mechanical precision and heightened design, with the highest quality materials used throughout.
Launched alongside Christopher Ward in 2005, the C3 Malvern Chronograph was a watch whose design skilfully fused quintessential English dress watch styling with sporty elements (it was inspired by the dashboard of an Aston Martin, after all). The C3 Grand Tourer returns to those early automotive influences, and then reenvisages them through the advances present in our Chronograph Mk III update.
Combining the heritage of the Morgan Motor Company with the quartz chronograph functionality of our C3 range, the C3 Morgan Chronograph encapsulates the values of British design and craftsmanship that sit at the core of the Christopher Ward and Morgan partnership.
If many of the watches found in the Rapide Collection focus on brighter colours, the C7 Hornet COSC Limited Edition near enough turns it back on those cues entirely. That it draws its name from a spirited and unpredictable creature is no accident; watching motorsport live is a visceral experience, centred around speed, power and adrenaline – and this 150-piece limited edition chronometer evokes that very same spirit and excitement.
Following in the slipstream of 2017’s sell-out limited edition, this new limited edition day date chronometer’s dial, bezel and case band are finished in Rosso Corsa – also known as Italian Racing Red, a shade synonymous with the greats of Italian motorsport. Built upon a foundation of the finest Swiss horology and engineering, only 200 of these turbo-charged chronometers have been made.
When the opportunity arises to create a watch incorporating a piston of the most expensive British car ever sold at auction, previously owned by one of the finest British watchmakers to have lived, it’s essential you do its story justice. And in the case of the C8 Birkin’s Blower TMB Limited Edition, a 90-piece limited edition chronometer containing a disc of Bentley Blower No.1 – the car that also set a track lap record at Brooklands under the ownership of one Sir Henry “Tim” Birkin, before the great George Daniels added it to his private collection – we feel we’ve done exactly that.
Although the Morgan Motor Company produce different versions of the Classic car – from the 4/4 through to the beefier Plus 8 – there is a reassuring constant throughout the range: that long sports car bonnet, flanked on either side by smooth, sweeping wheel arches. That timeless design directly inspires the dress watch stylings of the C1 Morgan Classic Chronometer.
The first car that Henry Morgan designed and produced back in the early 20th century, the 3 Wheeler was reborn in its modern form in 2011. It is therefore fitting that while the C1 Morgan 3 Wheeler Chronometer references the vintage appeal of Morgan’s original invention, the materials and engineering used throughout are as cutting edge as our design and production teams could secure.
In the Aero 8, Morgan have built a car they consider their most technologically advanced to date. Therefore, it was only right for Christopher Ward to create the C1 Morgan Aero 8 Chronometer in the very same spirit as the automobile that inspired it.
